Our privacy principles

What we collect

• Account details (name, email) so you can sign in.
• Audio recordings and transcripts you choose to create.
• Optional voice clone data, only after explicit consent.
• Basic technical logs to keep the service safe and reliable.

How we use it

We use your recordings only to transcribe, polish and store your memoir, and to share it with the family members you invite. We do not sell your data. We do not use your stories or voice to train public AI models.

How long we keep your data

Your stories stay with us for as long as you want them to. If you delete a chapter, it's removed from our active systems within 24 hours and from backups within 30 days. If you delete your account, all personal data is purged within 30 days. Anonymized service logs may be kept up to 90 days for security and reliability.

How we protect your data

• Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256).
• Audio and transcripts stored in EU data centers.
• Access to production systems limited to a small, vetted team with audit logging.
• Regular third-party security reviews of our infrastructure.

Third parties we rely on

We use a small set of carefully chosen vendors to run Aeterna — for hosting (Lovable Cloud / Supabase, EU regions), transcription, and voice synthesis. Each vendor is bound by a data-processing agreement and only handles the minimum data needed to do their job. We never share your data for marketing or analytics outside Aeterna.

Your controls

• Export your memoir at any time.
• Delete individual chapters or your entire account.
• Disable voice cloning and remove the voice model on request.

Your rights

• Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you.
• Correction — fix anything that's wrong.
• Deletion — remove individual chapters or your entire account.
• Portability — export your memoir as PDF and audio.
• Withdraw consent — turn off voice cloning and delete the voice model.
• Complain — to your local data protection authority if you feel we've fallen short.

Children

Aeterna isn't designed for children under 16, and we don't knowingly create accounts for them. Children can of course appear in stories told by adults — those stories are protected like any other content.

Cookies and tracking

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to remember your language. No advertising trackers. No third-party analytics that follow you around the web.

If something goes wrong

If a security incident ever affects your data, we'll tell you within 72 hours of becoming aware, explain what happened, what we're doing about it, and what you can do.
