Terms of Service
The agreement between us.
These terms explain what you can expect from Aeterna, and what we ask of you in return. We've kept the language plain on purpose.
Last updated: June 11, 2026
1. Accepting these terms
By creating an account or using Aeterna, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. If you're using Aeterna on behalf of someone else (for example, helping a parent record their memoir), you confirm you have their permission to do so.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- Keep your login credentials private and secure.
- You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
3. Your content
You own the stories, recordings, transcripts, and voice data you create with Aeterna. We only use your content to provide the service — transcribing, polishing, storing, and sharing chapters with the family members you invite. We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train public AI models.
You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display your content solely so we can run the service for you and your invited family.
4. Voice cloning
Voice cloning is opt-in and requires explicit consent from the storyteller. See our Consent & ethics page for the full rules. You can revoke consent at any time, and we'll delete the voice model.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Aeterna to:
- Upload content you don't have the right to share.
- Impersonate another person or clone someone's voice without consent.
- Harass, threaten, or harm others.
- Distribute malware, attempt to breach security, or disrupt the service.
- Violate any applicable law.
6. Family access
Storytellers control who can view, listen to, and converse with their memoir. Invited family members must use access responsibly and only as the storyteller intends. Access can be revoked at any time.
7. Subscriptions and payments
Some features require a paid plan. Pricing, billing cycles, and refund terms are shown at checkout. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
8. Service changes
We may add, change, or remove features over time to improve Aeterna. If a change materially affects you, we'll do our best to give advance notice.
9. Termination
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice when reasonably possible. On termination, you can export your memoir before your data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy policy.
10. Disclaimers
Aeterna is provided "as is." While we work hard to keep the service reliable and your data safe, we can't guarantee uninterrupted access or that the service will be error-free.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aeterna and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If changes are significant, we'll notify you by email or in the app before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
